Percentage of what to what? Last year over 10,000 to 20,000 people max. died of taking illegal street drugs. The good news is that the use of illegal drugs in the U.S. is waning. The real problem is not illegal drug use, but prescription drugs. Last year, 106,000 people died in U.S. hospitals from taking legally doctor prescribed FDA approved drugs for the particular illness they were suffering from. So, if you took the total number of sick people in hospitals and used that number, you could have some of the drug abuse issue percentage you are looking for.
